Not just for wrinkles!

While Botox® might be most famous as an effective way to deal with wrinkles, its benefits go far beyond appearance medicine. Teeth grinding, hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), migraines and facial spasms can all be treated with Botox®. With minimal discomfort, no downtime, few side effects and great results, Botox® is an attractive treatment option – and demand for the treatment is growing as more people become aware of the opportunities.

Prevent teeth grinding

To treat chronic tooth grinding, Botox® is injected into the muscles of the jaw. These muscles can be very tense, causing tooth grinding and pain, and Botox® helps relax them. You can expect results to last from three to four weeks, but this varies depending on the strength of the muscles in your jaw. Most people experience a significant reduction in jaw pain and tension.

The results generally get better over time, so if you continue treatments, your symptoms will be alleviated for a longer period each time. That’s why your practitioner might recommend starting with a high dose, with lower-dose follow-up treatments every 3-4 months, then dropping to maintenance treatments every six months.

Pregnant or breastfeeding women can’t get Botox®, but we can plan for future treatments at a consultation.

Reducing hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)

Botox® can be effective at reducing the amount of sweat you produce. When injected superficially under the skin, it prevents sweat glands from operating. This normalises levels of sweating, making significant positive changes to your quality of life and confidence.

It may take up to two weeks to take full effect, but will remain effective for four to six months. With regular follow ups, these periods will get longer and longer and can eventually last up to a year for some people.

Alleviating and preventing migraines

If you’re a chronic migraine sufferer, you may find relief with Botox®, as a series of injections in the forehead and scalp – it is proposed that it decreases the inflammatory response and works in ways to break the pain pathways involved.

To begin with, we recommend you have at least two treatment sessions 12 to 16 weeks apart. This gives a good indication of how you’ll respond to treatment, and then it can continue from there. For some, these injections result in a significant reduction in pain.

Improve your quality of life with Botox®

For all of these conditions, living with the pain or embarrassment can be debilitating. By removing or reducing the symptoms or causes, Botox® can significantly increase your quality of life, allowing you to get on with the things you love, and live life on your terms.

To find out if Botox® will work for you, book in a consultation. Our treatments are accessible, simple and produce great results. You’ll wish you had started earlier.
