Endovenous Ablation is a technique for destroying the larger faulty veins. This procedure was developed in 1999 and worldwide, hundreds of thousands of patients have been treated with EVA.
Endovenous Ablation (EVA) is an up-to-date, non-surgical solution to treat your varicose veins, so you don’t have to put up with your symptoms or be embarrassed to show off your legs anymore.
Skin Institute’s EVA treatment cauterises the lining of the affected vein, closing if off and allowing more efficient blood flow to return to your legs.
Following a small injection of local anaesthetic, we pass a radiofrequency fibre into the affected vein, which is used to internally cauterise and close the vein. Ultrasound is used to guide the fibre to the exact spot to start treatment. Further local anaesthetic is placed around the vein to ensure that the procedure is painless. The fibre is slowly withdrawn, destroying the varicose vein. The treated vein immediately scars shut and will naturally be absorbed into the body within six to twelve months.
EVA usually needs to be augmented with Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy to the remaining varicose veins in your lower legs or thighs, which may also improve any spider veins you may have. We will guide you through this process as well, in order to help you make the best decisions for your needs.
