Stuart graduated from the University of Otago in 1990 and became a Fellow of the Royal NZ College of General Practitioners in 1998.
He has always had an interest in dermatology and skin cancer treatment, working in a variety of skin clinics in the Auckland region.
In 2001 he completed a Diploma of Dermatology from the University of Cardiff and subsequently completed the courses and examinations to become an Accredited Member of the Skin Cancer College of Australasia and NZ Skin Cancer Doctors. Stuart is currently completing a research degree at James Cook University (Queensland) looking at the utility of a novel image enhancement software for digital dermoscopy.
