What are compression stockings?

Compression stockings are medically graded compression stockings. With greater the compression level/strength, the tighter the stockings are. The levels are measured in millimeters of mercury (mmHg) which is the same scale used to take your blood pressure.

Need a consultation so we can prescribe these for you and check no contraindications Good for people with swelling, ulcers, previous DVT, varicose veins  during pregnancy

For graded compression stockings, you will require a consultation with our medical providers so that we can check that you have no contraindications, measure and fit the stockings to ensure you receive the correct compression and size and then prescribe them to you.

Although compressional stocking strengths are generally safe, there are risks involved for those with contraindications. Compression stockings are designed to compress on your legs helping to push blood back up to the heart.

What are travel or wellbeing socks?

With travel socks or wellbeing socks, no medical appointment is necessary. These types of socks have a lighter grade compression and can be bought online or over the counter. When purchasing travel or wellbeing socks, you will need an ankle measurement and foot size.

Travel socks or wellbeing socks are suitable for everyone and a great aid when travelling, or if you have a standing occupation, or to generally keep your legs healthy.

Why do you need compression stockings or socks?

There is a small risk post treatment with the veins developing clots in the deep veins. Compression stockings or socks reduce the risk of blood clots.

Compression stockings or socks also help your legs feel better and aid with recovery post treatment as it helps to reduce swelling and compresses your legs while healing.
