What causes fat deposits?
Your body maintains an energy reserve in its fat cells as part of a normal operation procedure, but sometimes fat cells grow there they shouldn’t. This results in fat pockets around the body. Factors that can contribute to this are:
• Ageing – fat distribution changes with age, despite a normal body weight.
• Genetics – Some people inherit a predisposition to accumulate fat around their body, even though their body weight is low or normal.
What’s so great about Skin Institute’s multi-disciplinary approach is that we can offer patients the whole package – from education, to treatment, to follow up care.
