Introducing the TESLAChair

The TESLA Chair is revolutionary new technology using functional magnetic stimulation, developed over a decade ago by Iskra Medical, who specialises in machines that provide electrotherapy, ultrasound, laser therapy and more. The TESLAChair was developed with user-friendly operation and safety as the main criteria. It has since been widely acclaimed in both medical and aesthetics industries as a leading product in pain treatment & urinary incontinence. TESLAChair uses Functional Magnetic Stimulation (FMS) to stimulate muscle contraction which is much higher than what typically the body can achieve through exercise. This results in rapid strengthening of the pelvic floor muscles which can improve incontinence.

What does TESLAChair do?

The TESLAChair uses Functional Magnetic Stimulation (FMS) that is designed to provide electro-magnetic which has helped thousands of people by stimulating deep muscle structures that cannot be achieved through other ways.

What is FMS technology?

The TESLAChair™ uses advanced Functional Magnetic Stimulation (FMS) technology to treat urinary incontinence caused by weak pelvic floor muscles.

Powered by FMS technology, the TESLAChair™ is a revolutionary new treatment for incontinence in men and women. This innovative device stimulates deep muscle tissue without coming in direct contact with the skin. The TESLAChair™ is redefining the intimate health and wellness space, with studies showing that women suffering from postnatal urinary incontinence were relieved of their symptoms after the TESLAChair™ treatment and saw a significant improvement. As TESLAChair™ treatments are totally non-invasive, they are particularly attractive to patients who are keen to avoid the risks and downtime associated with surgery. TESLAChair™ treatments are also suitable for patients who cannot undergo electrotherapy.

Who is it suitable for?

The treatment is suitable for urinary incontinence or leakage of urine which occurs with sneezing, coughing, exercise or with a full bladder.  This commonly occurs for women after childbirth or men after prostate surgery.

What indications should I look out for?
  • Urinary incontinence caused by weak pelvic floor muscles
How does TESLAChair work?

The scientific explanation is that a magnetic field is generated by a pulse of current inside the EM (electromagnetic) mechanism. This induces a current that triggers the motor nerve system of the body, stimulating the targeted muscles to contract.

How is the motor nerve system triggered?

Rapid changes of magnetic field intensity induce an electrical current in the neuron. This phenomenon is called electromagnetic induction. Once the current reaches a certain value, a so-called neuron action potential is achieved. This causes the neuron cell to depolarize, which eventually leads to a complete muscle contraction and the outcomes boost circulation, nutrition and pain relief.

How it works during treatment is that the electromagnetic waves are directed into the selected area to stimulate muscles for the desired effect. The method delivers a Magnetic field strength up to 1.7 Tesla and is painless and comfortable because it does not involve direct skin contact for anyone receiving treatment.

What can you expect during treatment?

You will be seated, fully clothed, in the comfortable TESLA Chair. It is important that you don’t have any metal in the treatment area such as metal studs in jeans. Active wear or gym wear are most suitable options to wear on day of treatment. The therapy is non-invasive, painless and without any known side effects. Stimulation of muscle contraction occurs in bursts of 6 seconds, followed by 6 seconds of rest. The treatment will last for about 30 minutes. You will be encouraged to concentrate on the pelvic floor muscle contraction during the stimulation. This facilitates the implementation of active learning exercises.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does it work?
During electromagnetic induction, rapid changes of magnetic field intensity induce an electrical current in the neuron. Once the current reaches a certain value, a so-called neuron action potential is achieved. This neuron action potential causes the neuron cell to depolarise, which eventually leads to a supramaximal muscle contraction.
What is FMS?
FMS stands for Functional Magnetic Stimulation which delivers up to 3 tesla. A special magnetic field is generated by a pulse of current inside the EM (electro magnetic) mechanism, and this induces a current that triggers the motor nerve system of the body, stimulating the targeted muscles to contract, and helping to boost circulation and nutrition.
What does the treatment feel like?
Patients are seated and fully clothed when being treated in the comfortable TESLAChair™. The therapy is non-invasive, painless and without any known side effects. Patients are encouraged to concentrate on the muscle contraction during the stimulation to facilitate the implementation of active learning exercises.
How many treatments are required?

For effective treatment, we recommend 6 – 10 treatments. Severe cases could require further treatments. Therapy is performed two or three times per week for thirty minutes. We suggest at least one day of rest between the treatments on the same area. Results are accumulative with enhanced result after every single session, even from the 1st session. It is recommended to drink plenty of water after treatment. You may continue with all normal activities following your treatment session.

Who should not have treatment?

It is advised that you have seen your GP or Family Planning Doctor prior to treatment to assess that there is not an underlying significant condition causing your incontinence. If you have continuous leakage of urine you must have a medical assessment with your own doctor prior to treatment. You cannot have treatment if you are under 18 years, pregnant or have any of the following:

  • known cancer in the pelvic or abdomen
  • implants, piercings, open wounds or recent surgery in the treatment area
  • cardiac pacemaker
  • wearing hearing aids
  • medication pumps epilepsy
  • heart palpitations
  • severe breathing disorders
  • endometriosis and currently menstruating.
