Dermapen 4™ – Micro Needling Treatment

Popular among male and female clientele,  the Dermapen 4™ is typically our most popular treatment – and the results speak for themselves.

Traditional Dermal needling rollers and pens were known to be painful for the patient, but with the new design and technology of the Dermapen 4™ , the procedure is quite comfortable, with minimal downtime and AMAZING results!

Please see below for everything you need to know about Dermapen 4™.

  • What is Dermapen 4™?

It is the world’s FIRST digital and Bluetooth enabled micro needling platform. The device used is a pen which delivers the ultimate in advanced and innovative micro needling with unsurpassed confidence, service and patient results.

  • How does it work?

The skin is punctured with microscopic needles, generating 1,920 puncture channels per second.  The resulting micro injuries then trigger a series of healing processes that ultimately produce collagen and elastin. Collagen and elastin are protein fibres that provide the skin with its firm and elastic qualities.

Micro needling addresses a myriad of skin issues ranging from wrinkles and fine lines to hyperpigmentation and stretch marks. It is also used to keep the skin smooth and free from blemishes over time.

What can it treat?

Dermapen 4™ can be used to treat the appearance of;

  • Aging Skin
  • Vertical lip lines
  • Vitiligo*
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Skin tightening and rejuvenation
  • Enlarged/Dilated Pores
  • Stretch Marks
  • Scars (acne, surgical and burns)
  • Alopecia
  • Rosacea
  • Acne

Dermapen 4™ FAQs

Is the treatment painful?

Unlike traditional dermal rolling techniques, Dermapen 4™ is the most comfortable micro-needling treatment available, thanks to advanced technology and design.

Do you use numbing cream to make the process less painful?

No. Studies show that topical local anaesthetic  may even hinder the proliferation and synthesis of collagen. In 2017, researchers from the University of Washington found that lidocaine and mepivacaine – commonly used local anaesthetics, inhibited processes relevant to the repair of the skin in human skin fibroblasts (specialized cells which produce and deposit collagen).

In conclusion, although TLA may ensure a completely pain-free procedure, it is associated with a bevy of potentially hazardous side-effects and does not improve the efficacy of micro-needling and may even negatively impact upon the results.

How should I prepare my skin for treatment?

For optimal results, we’ll recommend an appropriate skin care regime at your initial consultation to follow at home that encourages your skin to prepare and strengthen.

How many treatments are recommended?

A course of 3 or more treatments is recommended to achieve optimal results. As individual results vary, sometimes more or less treatments are required and dependent on your skin concerns. Your Advanced Skin Therapist will advise how many treatments are needed at the initial consultation.

How soon after filler/muscle relaxant injections can I have a treatment?

While there is no clinical evidence that Dermapen 4™ treatments counteract with any injectables, it is essential to let us know if you have had an injectable treatment or are planning one shortly. With this information, we can let you know when to schedule your treatment appropriately.

How long should it take before I see results?

Typically, you will see results after your first treatment. Lasting and more significant results will become visible after 3 to 6 treatments. The condition of your skin will continue to improve over the next 6-12 months after a course of treatments, especially when combined with our recommended post-treatment care.

Is there any downtime?

Very minimal downtime, you may experience temporary facial redness, discomfort or swelling for 12-48 hours after the treatment.

Most people can return to normal daily activities immediately after the treatment. No excessive exercise, including swimming for 12-24 hours after treatment.

What should I do after my treatment?

Do not touch your skin for the first hour after treatment as the skin is open and you will risk causing infection. Avoid active skincare products for 3-4 days after treatment. ONLY use the skin care products recommended by your Advanced Skin Therapist. Protecting your skin from UV exposure with sunscreen is particularly important.
