Rough Skin

Dry climates, sun exposure, genetic inclination – there are many reasons why you might develop rough skin. The good news is that Skin Institute can help you get it under control.

Smoother, more manageable skin could be just a treatment away. We understand how uncomfortable it can be to have rough or chapped skin, especially on your face. That’s why we offer two treatments that are ideally suited to making rough skin a thing of the past.

Treatment

There are several ways to treat rough skin, and it depends upon the cause – for example a very small patch of rough and discoloured skin could potentially be a lesion that needs to be treated, which is why we’ve listed Free Spot Check and Full Body Skin Cancer Consultation in the Related Treatments panel. Or if your skin is rough and scaly, it might be a Dry Skin form of Dermatitis or Psoriasis.

We find though that people most commonly concerned with rough skin are concerned about the skin on their face. The most effective way to treat this is through a  microdermabrasion or microhydrabrasion treatment. Microdermabrasion or microhydrabrasion is a controlled way to exfoliate the skin of impurities and dead skin cells.

The microdermabrasion technology we use is where a diamond tip moves over the skin creating a controlled exfoliation process. The exfoliated cells are removed with a gentle vacuum device. Microhydrabrasion uses cool water in addition to the diamond tip.

A microdermabrasion or microhydrabrasion treatment takes around 30 minutes, resulting smoother, softer and more radiant skin.
