Familiar procedures are more effective than ever

As technology advances, the world of cosmetic treatments is moving fast too. In 2020, we’ll be seeing a return to old treatments that have become far more useful, targeted and safe. Some exciting new treatments are also offering less invasive techniques that create a far more natural end result.

  1. Fat freezing

This non-surgical procedure – uses a machine (Cooltech body sculpting) to freeze the fat, which decreases the bulk of fat cells over time. The cells are destroyed by being frozen, and the body processes and eliminates them. This is typically used for fatty deposits on the hips, thighs, tummy, arms and chin.

Fat freezing is ideal if you have a specific spot of fat that is resistant to exercise and diet, and may need more than one treatment.

  1. Belkyra chin fat-dissolving injections

These injections are specifically to reduce the appearance of a double chin. The injections are strategically placed to sculpt natural contours. Fat cells are permanently destroyed and then absorbed by your body over the following six to eight weeks.

  1. Large-volume dermal filler treatments

These large-volume dermal fillers support your entire face. Rather than an unnatural plumping of lips and cheeks, it’s secret support for the temples, chin and jawline that reduces the signs of aging. You’ll usually need three to four sessions, with three to four syringes applied each time.

The results are dramatic but natural-looking, because the dermal filler works with the natural movement of muscles.

  1. Threads

Threads are simple to insert, and help to lift the face and sharpen the jawline. In the past, the threads were made of permanent material that wasn’t well tolerated by the body. Now, the threads are dissolvable, making them safer and more effective. As a result, threading is becoming more popular.

Planning where the threads are best inserted is an art form in itself – Dr Pier Marzinotto, cosmetic doctor from Skin Institute, is NZ’s leading expert.

  1. Injectable moisturisers

Hyaluronan surrounds our cells, gives our skin the hydration it needs, and supports the production of collagen. As we age, our bodies produce less and less hyaluronan. Injecting moisturisers with hyaluronan under the surface of the skin replaces this, helping your skin produce more collagen, increasing elasticity and helping cell renewal. The result is amazingly smooth, younger-looking skin, with the effects lasting for weeks or longer.

Dermal-filler companies create a version of this in a thin, liquid filler formation. The Dermagun™ treatment at Skin Institute incorporates Teosyal Redensity, providing copper, zinc and amino acids to better support skin function.

Unsure what’s best for you?

Even if you’ve tried a particular technique in the past, it might be worth trying again – the constantly evolving skin-care industry is making traditional treatments better every day.

At Skin Institute, we begin any treatment with a consultation. We’ll analyse your particular needs and the results you’re looking for, before recommending a treatment to help you look and feel your best.
