MAIN POINTS

• The first evening step in our Essential Products is the Preparatory Cleanser. The cleanser gently removes makeup and debris accumulated throughout the day and prepares the skin for the repair products that are to come.


• Typical foaming cleansers are based on detergents, substances that efficiently remove lipid components from the skin. However, removing lipids from the skin undermines the skin's barrier function, leaving it more open to irritants, drier and more sensitive. As well as causing sensitivity, foaming cleansers can also be a problem for patients with oily skin types, as the removal of lipids causes the skin to compensate, producing yet more oil in an attempt to maintain the skin's protective barrier. Cream cleansers, another common kind of cleanser, can clog pores, resulting in increased breakouts.


• Preparatory Cleanser is a solvent-based cleanser, which works quite differently from a detergent. Because the solvents don't have an affinity for the skin's lipids, they only remove loose material that is on the skin's surface, while leaving the fundamental protective structures, including the acid mantle, intact.


• In addition, the cleanser is supplemented with antioxidant vitamins A, C and E. The cleanser also contains botanical soothing agents including licorice and comfrey extracts to calm skin whilst cleansing.


• The cleanser is completely oil and detergent free, and is fantastic for removing all kinds of makeup including most kinds of eye makeup. For patients with particularly dry skin, the cleanser can be gently sponged off after cleansing to leave a calming moisturising layer.

• Rationale Preparatory Cleanser is a solvent-based cleanser suitable for all skin types. Gently removes make-up and debris without irritation.

• Detergent-based (foaming) cleansers can strip the skin of Intercellular Lipids and Natural Moisturising Factors. This causes sensitivity, irritation, and rebound overproduction of sebum, leading to acne.

• Creamy cleansers (oil-based) can clog pores.

• Rationale Preparatory Cleanser has the luxurious look and feel of a creamy cleanser but is actually oil-free.

• This item can only be delivered to addresses in New Zealand.
 

PRODUCT USAGE

• Preparatory Cleanser may be used morning and night.

• Will remove all make-up, including eye make-up. 

• For dry skin – wet face with lukewarm water. Lather cleanser all over face and neck. Leave on for a few minutes to soften and moisturise. Tissue or sponge off. Leaves a moisturising layer on the surface.

• For normal to oily skin – wet face with lukewarm water. Lather cleanser all over face and neck. Rinse off with lukewarm water.
