Neck Lift Platysmaplasty
A neck lift (platysmaplasty) is designed to reduce the loose look of sagging skin in the neck area and under the jaw line. This minimally invasive surgical procedure to provide a streamlined side profile with no sign of what is often referred to as ‘turkey neck'.
How does it work?
An incision is made under the chin or behind the ears or both. The surgeon will remove portions of skin as required. A small ‘bio-compatible corset-like’ suture is then attached to the underlying muscle to tighten it. This procedure can also be performed in conjunction with Liposuction of the neck.
What can be achieved?
Platysmaplasty corrects the natural tendency in some people to develop a turkey wattle effect in the neck area as they age. The neckline is smoothed, sagging skin is removed and the jaw line regains a more youthful appearance.
Treatment info
The procedure is usually done under local anaesthesia or intravenous sedation and takes about 45 to 60 minutes minutes and is very well tolerated by patients.
After treatment
A special garment will need to be worn for the first 72 hours then each night for two weeks thereafter to allow for the tissue to heal properly.
