Collagen Stimulation, using the Elos Polaris device, is one of the latest technologies available in the fight against ageing. Treatment benefits include wrinkle smoothing, improvement in acne scarring, enlarged pores, skin texture and skin laxity in the face and neck by firming and tightening the skin.
The Elos Polaris device combines safe and effective levels of laser and radiofrequency (electric current) energies to remodel the dermal layer of the skin by stimulating new collagen growth, creating a smoother and softer appearance.
Elos collagen stimulation treatments improve textural irregularities in the skin due to loss of collagen. Treatment benefits include wrinkle smoothing, improvement in acne scarring, enlarged pores, skin texture and skin laxity in the face and neck by firming and tightening the skin. Treatment is best indicated for the 30-40 year old skin although older skin types can get a nice enhancement from treatment they will be unlikely to get the desired lift from treatment and are generally best to consider a surgical approach for tightening and firming.
Treatment sessions are performed with the Polaris device using Elos Technology which combines safe & effective levels of laser and radiofrequency (electric current) energies to remodel the dermal layer of the skin by stimulating new collagen growth, creating a smoother and softer appearance. Both laser and radiofrequency have been used separately for decades in medicine and surgery, but the Polaris exclusively combines light and radio frequency for ideal treatment outcomes with very low risk of side effects and virtually no downtime.
Treatments are non-ablative, which means it is a non-invasive procedure and does not disrupt the surface of your skin. Most people leave with only slight pinkness or no pinkness at all and can return to work immediately.
You should expect a course of 5 treatments as we have found most people on average need 5 treatments to obtain their desired result. Some people will strive for further enhancement of their skin and go on to have further treatments. Treatment sessions are typically 3-4 weeks apart, each treatment session takes half an hour.
Treatment can be uncomfortable, “like being flicked with a rubber band” or “feels like a hot pinch”, however most people can tolerate it. To reduce discomfort a topical anaesthetic cream can be applied 30 mins before treatment to numb the area (note: cost of cream is extra). Two paracetamol can also be taken one hour before the procedure.
Polaris collagen stimulation treatments should really be combined with Aurora skin renewal treatments to get the most effective treatment outcome. The reason being the Polaris only targets the collagen and will not improve sun damage pigmentation, superficial facial veins and colour irregularities which the Aurora corrects. It is fine to have just Polaris treatments if you have had a previous course of Aurora skin renewal treatments or IPL to improve skin complexion and now want to target your collagen levels.
What to expect immediately after treatment:
Any medical procedure has a risk of side effects with Elos Technology these risks are rare and usually quickly resolve.
-
Redness and heat usually appear immediately following treatment. This will subside within a few hours.
-
You will need to apply ice-packs to the treated area immediately and for the rest of the day.
-
Swelling, if it occurs at all, usually happens the following morning, this usually subsides within 1 - 5 days.
-
The colour of visible vessels may change to a darker red, which can take up to three weeks to disappear. Others may completely disappear at the time of treatment.
-
